Basic Theory Test
Passing the Basic Theory Test (BTT) is a compulsory requirement for obtaining the Singapore driving licence. Persons who wish to convert their foreign driving licence to a Singapore driving licence must also pass the BTT.
BTT is conducted by the Singapore Traffic Police at any of the driving centres - Bukit Batok Driving Centre (BBDC), ComfortDelgro Driving Centre (CDC) and Singapore Safety Driving Centre (SSDC).
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age to sit for the BTT.
There are 50 multiple choice questions (MCQ) with 3 options for each question. The time limit for the test is 50 minutes. The passing score is 90% i.e. candidates must answer at least 45 questions correctly.
The test is computerised and is offered in four languages - English, Chinese, Malay or Tamil. In the computerised test environment, candidates take the test using touch-screen terminals and they will get their test results instantly upon completing the test.
